Former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo, has publicly declared his total support for the decision of Siminalayi Fubara to withdraw from the Rivers State governorship race.

In a statement that has sparked widespread political reactions across Rivers State, Ihunwo described Governor Fubara’s move as a bold act of sacrifice, wisdom, maturity, and statesmanship aimed at preserving peace, unity, and the collective interest of the people.

“I wish to openly and sincerely reaffirm my unwavering support for the decision of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, to step down from the governorship race,” Ihunwo stated.

According to the former council chairman, true leadership is not always about personal ambition or political power, but about making difficult decisions that promote stability and protect the future of the state.

He stressed that Governor Fubara’s action demonstrates uncommon courage and commitment to the peace and development of Rivers State, adding that he fully stands by the Governor’s decision.

Ihunwo further reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to support whoever emerges as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.

“As committed party members, our collective priority must remain unity, progress, and victory for the APC,” he said.

The former Obio/Akpor chairman also promised to mobilize support across different political structures and grassroots communities to ensure a landslide victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections.

“I am fully prepared to contribute my quota, mobilize supporters, and work tirelessly with other stakeholders to guarantee overwhelming victory for our party at the polls,” he declared.

Speaking further, Ihunwo emphasized that Rivers State deserves visionary leadership, sustainable development, peace, economic growth, and people oriented governance capable of transforming the lives of ordinary citizens.

In addition to his Rivers State political position, Ihunwo openly endorsed the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing strong confidence in the President’s leadership and national development agenda.

“I wholeheartedly support the re-election of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. I believe in his vision, courage, and determination to reposition Nigeria for greater economic stability, infrastructural development, and national prosperity,” he affirmed.

He concluded by calling on political stakeholders, party loyalists, and supporters across Rivers State and Nigeria to embrace unity, loyalty, sacrifice, and collective responsibility for the advancement of the nation.
