Governor Siminalayi Fubara has stated that while he remains grateful to political leaders who supported his emergence as Governor of Rivers State, no individual should expect to take the position of God in his life.

Speaking during a recent address, Governor Fubara emphasized that there is absolutely nothing wrong with helping others rise in life or politics. According to him, God often uses men and women as instruments to fulfill divine purposes on earth.

The Rivers State Governor explained that even an enemy can sometimes become the channel through which God opens doors for a person. However, he stressed that appreciating human assistance should never translate into worshipping or surrendering one’s conscience to another individual.

“We sincerely appreciate the contributions and support of our leaders, especially the immediate past governor, in my emergence as Governor. But that alone is not enough reason for me to worship any human being,” Fubara said.

He maintained that his loyalty remains first to God and to the people of Rivers State, adding that he cannot compromise his principles simply to satisfy political expectations.

“I cannot worship a man. If that becomes my sin, then let me answer for it before God on the last day, not before any human being on earth. I am not answerable to anybody on earth,” the governor declared.

Governor Fubara’s statement is already generating reactions across the political space, as many observers interpret it as a strong message regarding independence, leadership, and the ongoing political tension within Rivers State politics.
