In a candid interview on Arise TV, Former PDP Chairman in Bayelsa State, Rufus Abadi, has expressed strong support for the recent suspension ruling that has brought a temporary halt to the political crisis in neighboring Rivers State

Speaking with remarkable frankness about the contentious situation, Abadi suggested that the judicial intervention may have prevented potentially catastrophic outcomes in the oil-rich southern state.

"Well, to my own thoughts, the suspension is a timely one. It has stopped bloodshed which would have happened in Rivers State. Two, it has also stopped the governor from being impeached," Abadi stated during his television appearance.

The former party chairman's comments highlight the severity of tensions that had been building in Rivers State, where political factions have been locked in a power struggle that threatened to escalate beyond political maneuvering into actual violence.

Abadi was particularly emphatic about Governor Siminalayi Fubara's position, noting: "So if you look at it politically, I will even say Siminalayi Fubara is a very lucky human being."

Elaborating on the potential consequences that were averted, Abadi warned that, "There would have been bloodshed because as a politician, we know that a lot of things were going on. There would have been fire on the mountain in Rivers State."

The political veteran appeared optimistic about the path forward, concluding his remarks with a prediction for post-suspension stability: "So that suspension stopped everything. That's why you can see peace has returned back, and I know after all this, after the period which has been stipulated, Sim will come back and peace will reign."

This commentary comes amid ongoing concerns about political stability in several Nigerian states, with Rivers State's situation drawing particular attention from observers across the political spectrum.
