The Sokoto State Police Command has successfully arrested three suspected bandits, an informant, and a drug supplier during a coordinated raid in Kware Local Government Area. The operation, carried out on October 4 by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, followed credible intelligence on the activities of a five-man syndicate notorious for terrorizing residents of Wamako and Kware communities.
How Police Operatives Raided the Bandits’ Hideout
The Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched the raid after tracking the movements of the gang to their hideout in Sabon Birni, Kware LGA. During the operation, police officers arrested Bubale Mohammed and two accomplices, along with a suspected informant and a drug supplier accused of providing hard drugs to the criminals.
Security sources disclosed that the drug dealer played a critical role in fueling the group’s criminal activities by supplying them with illicit substances.
Items Recovered From the Suspects
Recovered exhibits during the raid include:
-
Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
-
Assorted illicit drugs
-
Mobile phones containing incriminating video clips
Shockingly, video evidence retrieved from the phones showed the suspects dressed in military uniforms and brandishing rifles inside their camp.
Investigation and Next Steps
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. Police confirmed that while three of the suspects are now in custody, manhunt operations are ongoing to capture other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Police Reassure Sokoto Residents
The Sokoto State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to tackling banditry, kidnapping, and drug-related crimes in the state. Authorities urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to aid security operations across vulnerable communities.
