The Rivers Civil Society Organisations (RIVCSO) has strongly condemned the five-day confinement of Mrs. Success Miracle by her husband, Prophet Umueke Miracle, the leader of the Dynamic Flame of Fire and Miracle Ministries.
In a statement issued on Sunday, RIVCSO Chairman, Comrade Enefaa Georgewill, described the incident as a clear case of domestic abuse and unlawful detention.
Georgewill called on the Rivers State Police Command to swiftly conclude its investigation and prosecute Prophet Miracle to serve as a deterrent to others who may attempt to abuse their partners.
“From what Mrs. Success Miracle told us immediately after the police rescued her, this is not the first time her husband has put her in forced confinement and seized her phones to prevent her from contacting people outside the house,” Georgewill stated.
RIVCSO also accused the Prophet of having a history of abusive behavior and misconduct. The group recalled that it had previously raised alarm over the pastor’s alleged harassment of a Rivers State Television (RSTV) staff member.
The staff member was reportedly assaulted by Prophet Miracle after cutting off his live broadcast once his allotted airtime expired.
“We are not ignorant of Pastor Miracle's high-handedness and molestation of citizens. We have received several complaints from residents living near his church about similar incidents of harassment and intimidation,” Georgewill added.
Background: Pastor Miracle’s Arrest and Allegations
The statement comes after Prophet Miracle was arrested on Sunday by the police in Port Harcourt following allegations of locking up his wife for five days.
Globalvoice had earlier reported that Success accused her husband of assault, infidelity, and marrying two other women while still legally married to her.
Success alleged that her husband had paid the bride price of another woman and was also living with a third woman. She further alleged that he frequently beat her and controlled her movements.
In a recording, Success revealed that Prophet Miracle confined her for five days, took her phone to prevent her from reaching out for help, and threatened to throw her out of their home. The police eventually intervened and rescued her from the house.
Following his arrest, Prophet Miracle was taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning. The Rivers State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the case.
Call for Justice
RIVCSO has called on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation into the matter, emphasizing that no one should be above the law.
“We further call on the police to display the highest level of neutrality and transparency. Pastor Miracle has been known to boast that he has the police in his pocket and that nothing will happen to him. This must be proven false through a fair and thorough investigation,” Georgewill said.
RIVCSO vowed to monitor the case closely, warning that any attempt to shield Prophet Miracle from accountability would face strong resistance from the civil society group.
“We are watching,” the statement concluded.
