The Rivers State Government has announced a significant boost to public sector employment, approving the recruitment of 5,000 additional workers into the state civil service.

This decision was made during an executive council meeting held at the Government House on Tuesday. Dr Honour Sirawo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, informed journalists after the meeting that this new employment brings the total number of people employed in the education sector under this administration to 9,500.

Dr Chisom Gbali, the Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, also reassured the public that the recruitment process will be transparent and free from favouritism.
