The Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) has intensified its violent campaign against Christian communities in northeastern Nigeria, following a reported attack on a Christian village in Adamawa State.
According to a security analyst, Brant Philip, the terrorist group released a video showing parts of the village engulfed in flames. The footage, which has since circulated widely online, was accompanied by a statement targeting Christians across Nigeria.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Philip explained that ISWAP described Christian communities as legitimate targets and issued ideological threats linked to forced religious compliance and taxation demands commonly associated with extremist groups.
“ISWAP released images of a Christian village in Adamawa State burning, alongside a statement declaring Christians as targets,” Philip stated.
Security observers believe the attack may be connected to heightened military and U.S pressure on terrorist networks.
The incident is being viewed as a possible response to recent airstrikes reportedly carried out by the United States military against a terrorist enclave in Sokoto State.
Authorities are yet to release an official casualty report, while residents in surrounding communities remain on high alert amid growing concerns over renewed insurgent activity in the region.
