Femi Fani Kayode, who is the former Minister of Aviation has shared a video on his Facebook page where one of the terrorists was narrating why he joined Bandit. The recorded video was 3 minutes and 10 seconds.

 

In the video, the terrorist stated that; “We waged war because we are herders and notwithstanding this country’s wealth we are not considered. We were also not educated and we didn’t know anything.

 

“We were not secured and we didn’t have anything. Any place a herder is, he is ignorant and also has nothing. We have everything in this country, but the only problem is that we are not carried along in their system, it is like we don’t exist. We were just being killed without any reason.

 

“Back then, they made some promises to us but none of the promises they made was fulfill Educate your younger ones by enrolling them in schools; we Fulanis should also be carried along the same way and also be given jobs as well. The Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa and we Fulani, should be treated similarly.

 

“If I should narrate to you the circumstance of things in this country, you will surely cry. We supported this present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari and we accept dialogue since we believe in him and think that he will fix the country but he did not fix it.

 

“During the tenure of Abacha, pastoralists were given education, there was also some allocation for the nomadic communities. But eventually, these things were stopped during the tenure of Obasanjo.”
